What is Hardware Root of Trust (HRoT)? |
아주경제 유진희 기자 = 사물인터넷(IoT)에 기반한 연결된 제품들이 미국 라스베이거스에서 열리고 있는 세계 최대 가전 전시회 ‘CES 2017’의 화두로 자리 잡으면서 IoT 보안 전문업체(이하 보안업체)들도 도약의 기회를 맞을 것이란 기대감에 부풀어 있다.
5일 업계에 따르면, 국내 보안업체들 대다수가 올해 매출이 지난해보다 크게 성장할 것으로 예상했다. 국내 보안업체들은 그동안 ‘IoT 보안’이라는 새로운 시장에서 매출보다는 기술력 향상에 힘써왔다. 하지만 삼성전자와 LG전자를 비롯해 글로벌 가전업체들이 올해를 기점으로 IoT 관련 제품을 대거 출시할 계획이고, 이에 따라 보안 솔루션 수요도 급증, 매출에 반영될 것으로 보고 있다.
지난 2014년에 창업한 신생 벤처인 ‘큐브바이트’는 2015년 매출이 거의 없었으나 지난해 10억원을 달성한 데 이어 올해는 40억원 정도를 벌어들일 것으로 예측하고 있다. 이들은 하드웨어인 자체 보안 운영체제(OS)와 함께 하드웨어 보안칩을 탑재하는 방식의 보안 플랫폼을 개발해 판매하고 있다.
이성준 큐브바이트 대표는 “IoT는 기기가 다양해 보안기술을 일괄 적용하기 어렵다”며 “이 때문에 전문화된 보안 기기가 필요하며 앞으로 성장 가능성이 매우 높다고 본다”고 설명했다.
지난해 하반기 IoT 보안에 활용되는 ‘PUF칩’의 양산에 들어간 ‘ICTK’도 올해 큰 성장을 할 것으로 기대하고 있다. ICTK 관계자는 “PUF칩의 양산에 들어간 후 세계 100여 기업에서 채택을 검토하고 있다”며 “국내뿐만 아니라 중국 등 IoT를 적용한 제품의 소비가 많은 지역을 대상으로 판매를 확대해 나갈 것이라고 강조했다.
엑스엔시스템즈는 지난해 4분기 IoT 전용 통합보안 솔루션 ‘네오박스’를 선보이고 올해 본격적인 판매에 나서고 있다. 네오박스는 유·무선 통합보안장비로 IoT 뿐만 아니라 방화벽(Firewall), 가상사설망(VPN) 등 다양한 보안 기능을 통합적으로 제공한다.
엑스엔시스템즈 관계자는 “우리가 보유한 IoT 보안 기술의 강점을 활용해 통신사와 파트너 형태로 지속적인 비즈니스 모델을 개발 나가고 있다”며 “올해 큰 성장이 기대되는 만큼 관련 제품의 연구개발(R&D)에도 꾸준히 투자할 계획”이라고 말했다.
이밖에도 SK인포섹, MDS테크놀로지, SGA솔루션즈 등도 IoT 보안 관련 제품을 개발해 출시했거나 상용화를 준비하고 있다. IoT 시대를 맞아 관련 시장의 확대에 기여한다는 계획이다.
