For the first time, a security specialist, ICTK Holdings, and a construction IT conglomerate, HDC Labs, are cooperating to introduce a digital door lock equipped with a Wi-Fi communication module that incorporates Physical Unclonable Function (PUF) technology. The Wi-Fi communication module that has a PUF chip built-in was the first to obtain security certification from Amazon Web Services (AWS), and was recognized for the data confidentiality of smart home products.


On the 25th, ICTK Holdings (CEO Jung-won Lee) announced that it has launched HDC Labs' digital door lock 'Bestin' equipped with a Wi-Fi security module ‘Trust-Fi'. This is the first time that a digital door lock equipped with a PUF-based security module is sold in the market.

Bestin is a smart home brand of HDC Labs. The digital door lock model with ICTK Holdings Wi-Fi security module ‘Trust-Fi' is the most high-end part of the 'IDL-400 series’.

Trust-Fi obtained an official certification for Internet of Things (IoT) integration since AWS in 2020. It was the world's first Wi-Fi security module at the time. Trust-Fi is a low-power Wi-Fi module with built-in PUF semiconductor security technology. It guarantees interoperability between cloud platforms as well as firewall functions of IoT devices such as device authentication and secure boot, and data integrity check.

AWS highly recognized Trust-Fi for providing various IoT device-related functions, such as △Wireless Firmware over-the-air (FOTA) △Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP) △Multi-Factor Authentication △Encryption/Certificate Processing. A top-tier Korean partner, ICKT Holdings, receives the highest marketing support from AWS policy worth annual support of $20,000.

Trust-Fi made by ICTK Holdings to HDC Labs guarantees confidentiality in data communication between the digital door lock and the AWS Cloud. It also gets rid of key value utilizing hacking that opens and closes the digital door lock with a smartphone.

An official from HDC Labs said, "We are able to solve various security issues that have been constantly raised by network-type door locks with the help of installing ICTK Holdings' powerful security module in smart home products.

Having obtained the Korea Cryptographic Module Validation Program (KCMVP) certification from the National Intelligence Service in July, ICTK Holdings is planning to expand its application to public IoT fields such as advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) based on this door lock reference.

CEO of ICTK Holdings Jung-won Lee said, “The installation will be applied to all IoT devices that can be remotely accessed or managed, such as wall pads, rental water purifiers, boilers, and white appliances, as well as the public market. Public IoT devices are always vulnerable to security due to using sensors with low computational power, and can improve the security drastically in the security function and information integrity by installing Trust-Fi.”
